bridging the gap

TCC provides a healthy support system through its Youth Connections drop-in centers. These centers, located in Stillwater and Cottage Grove, provide a safe and supportive place for youth to have a hot meal, shower, do laundry, and pick out seasonally appropriate clothing along with personal hygiene items. Most important, youth make connections with adult volunteers and professional youth counselors that will answer questions, make referrals for mental and physical health concerns and just listen, providing hope that their futures will be full of promise and connections to a community that welcomes them as they are.

For youth that have run out of safe housing options, TCC staff will work to find safe shelter for every youth in need.

TCC staff and volunteers ensures that each youth receives the necessary help to complete their secondary education, assist them in finding employment and often a first apartment. And when appropriate, family reunification plans are developed.

Youth ages 13-24 who are referred to the YCDC are welcome regardless of gender identification, race, or creed.

Volunteers are vetted and trained and may work in a variety of capacities.

The TCC is a 501c3 non profit public charity and receives its financial support for foundations, service clubs, faith communities, businesses and individuals like you!

THE HARD NUMBERS

9 % of area youth ages 17 to 24 will experience a period of homelessness. These youth can become victims of activities by others who will take advantage of their disconnection from families and healthy support systems.

Youth Services Network (YSNMN)

YSNMN, is a mobile-optimized web application and is comprised of various web pages (YSNMN.org) and mobile applications (YSN). YSNMN is operated by The Bridge for Youth, a Minnesota not-for-profit corporation. YSNMN was developed by a collaboration of 13 social service agencies that provide shelter and other services to youth in the Twin Cities metropolitan area of Minnesota, it is designed to easily connect youth who are homeless, in crisis, or at risk of either, to the services they need.

YSNMN was developed out of the Bridge for Youth’s, Youth in Crisis Technology Project (YCTP). With the vision of enhancing services to homeless and at-risk youth, the YCTP project brought together partners from across youth-serving, technology development, and corporate and foundation philanthropy sectors.
